AEA's greatest strength lies in demonstrating that education is not limited to schooling and that it plays a crucial role in local and national development. We are widely recognized for our ability to effectively transfer skills and to apply proven expertise from our experience on four continents - Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Caribbean.
 
One of our hallmarks is that we encourage and rely on the active participation of all a community's actors (teachers, parents, village communities, women's groups, local NGOs, states) in the design, development and delivery of our locally relevant programs.
 
Our projects are always set in cultural, social and community contexts. Above all, we recognize the independence, capacity and responsibility of each community.
