"Women for education" in partnership with AEA :

May 14, 2007
The ELLE Foundation and the Women's Forum, in partnership with AEA, launched the operation, "Women for Education".  This campaign, written up in ten international editions of ELLE magazine as well as on its web site, invites non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to submit an economic insertion project, supporting education and training for girls and women.

"Women for Education", a campaign in favour of women's education around the world, was launched by the ELLE Foundation and the Women's Forum in cooperation with AEA.  From May 14 through July 15, 2007, NGOs can submit their projects to the ELLE Foundation.  Along with AEA, the foundation will make an initial selection.  The three finalists will be invited to defend their projects at the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society in Deauville, France from October 11-13.  The winning organization will receive a 100,000 euro donation to put its project proposal into action.

Four AEA, women's education is an essential key to development.  With 25 years of hands-on experience, this NGO knows that educated women are much more likely to send their girls to school and, thus, contribute to the development of their community.  Numerous economic, social and cultural constraints, however, still exist in regards to women's education.

The development of communities through education, and especially through women's education, is an important value for all three partners of "Women for Education". The Women's Forum for the Economy and Society, a yearly event, is an opportunity for women to voice their opinions about the most important problems facing our world today.  The ELLE Foundation encourages girls' and women's emancipation through education, training and information.  This initiative is a clear demonstration of each partner's desire to collaborate on innovative and concrete actions in favor of women.
