Sponsorship - an positive commitment !

Because education takes place over a considerable period of time, for sponsorship to be effective, it is important that it also lasts. This continuity also gives a sense of meaning to your support. By becoming a sponsor and giving 20 euros per month, you will set children on the road to education. Thanks to you, they will receive a full primary education : reading, writing, arithmetic and self expression. They will also learn to take care of their environment (management of drinking water, planting of trees, hygiene and health rules). In essence, you will enable them to become adults who are prepared to play a part in the development of their village and of their community.

Today’s children  will be  tomorrow’s adults. Although this may seem obvious this idea is vital to understanding our ultimate goal: to allow our sponsored children themselves to be the driving force behind their  country's development. This in turn explains why sponsorship is a long-term commitment and shouldn't be rushed into. Becoming a responsible human being isn't something a child can learn in a few months....

An act of strength that makes development last !

Sustainabilty is essential to our programmes. Sponsorship, as opposed to a one-off gift, is a long-term commitment which helps us to reach our objectives.

We work alongside pupils' parents, teachers, and the education authorities right from the start of the project activities. The different participants gradually take charge of the project until it becomes fully independent, at which point we are able to withdraw and move on to other areas. Throughout the duration of the project, we ensure close monitoring of our activities in order to provide regular updates on our projects to sponsors.

This moral and financial commitment in support of a child, a group or a project in the form of sponsorship creates a long term bond.

The different forms of sponsorship

You can support the entire primary education of a child, or simply the last three years (this is when most children drop out).  You can also support a class or a school and follow its progress.  You can take part in a development project for primary education, such as the education of marginalised children in India, the development of schools in Benin and in Niger, the education of girls in Togo, etc… For more information visit the “Support us” section.

TRANSPARENCY

Limited administrative costs

The permanent staff in Paris is deliberately kept to a minimum to keep administrative costs as low as possible. Of the 20 euros our sponsors donate, only 15% is spent on administrative costs, while 85% are spent on our activities in the field. Every year, the association’s accounts are audited in France and in Haiti by Barbier, Frinault et Cie. (Ernst & Young Group) auditors. The accounts for the African programmes are audited by local experts under the control of Barbier, Frinault et Cie. (Ernst & Young Group), and those of our Indian partners by KPMG.
To keep sponsors and donors informed, the association’s accounts are published every year in the June round-up issue of the Aide et Action magazine.

Accounting transparency

Aide et Action is the only association to have won the Crystal Prize for Transparent Financial Information twice, in 1990 and 1995. This prize is awarded by the Compagnie Nationale des Commissaires aux Comptes (National Society of Statutory Auditors). It is also a member of the Ethics Charter Committee of Social and Humanitarian Charitable Organisations (Comité de la Charte). The members of this committee are associations which are keen to ensure transparency in the way the funds they raise are used.
