Our programme in Haiti has been managed in partnership with the French NGO - InterAide, since 1989, in the far flung region of Cahos where journeys take place, for the most part, on foot.
Before the intervention of InterAide in 1983 there were only three schools and only 900 children who had been through schooling. InterAide lead a programme of integral development with three principal aspects: health, agriculture and schooling. Aide et Action supports the whole of the schooling aspect and have put in place class sponsorship programmes.
Aide et Action also support, in part, other aspects of the programme, where there is a link between school and the environment. This year we are handing over more responsibility to the school committees so they can take charge of the management of their schools.
