Nowadays, in the poorest countries, hundreds of millions of children, mainly girls, are still deprived of a good quality basic education or quit primary school without possessing elementary skills.
As reported by UNESCO, there are allegedly 770 million illiterate people in the world, which represents both the population of Europe and that of the United States !
On the field, however, teachers together with the other members of the educational community (facilitators, educators, public employees...) are leading a day-to-day struggle to make the right to education a reality. Staff is nevertheless greatly insufficient: according to UNESCO, at least 15 million teachers are needed to send to school all the excluded world’s children.
Those figures hide desperate human realities that urgently require the mobilization of each one of us !
Whereas, on world scale, we know they are enough resources and means to end this deadly cycle, we should all together take actions to erase poverty and prevent further inequalities.
